Yoo Dong-su's Face Revealed After Killing Ex-Lover and Abandoning Body... Denies Charges

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] The face of Yoo Dong-su (49), a Chinese national who was arrested on charges of murdering his ex-girlfriend and mutilating and abandoning her body in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, was revealed on the 5th. Earlier, the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency held a police personal information disclosure committee on the 4th and decided to disclose Yoo's identity.

The Yongin Eastern Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that Yoo was sent to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office around 9 a.m. that day on charges including murder. Yoo stood in front of the camera without wearing a hat or mask, in accordance with the Special Act on the Punishment of Specific Violent Crimes (Special Act).

As Yoo left the police station, he briefly looked at the press without lowering his head and then answered questions.

When asked, "Do you still deny the crime?" Yoo replied, "Yes." When asked, "Do you think the evidence secured by the police is unclear?" he said, "It is unclear." When asked if he had anything to say to the victim's family, he said, "No."

Yoo is accused of killing his ex-lover, a woman in her 40s identified as A, at his home in Cheoin-gu, Yongin City on the 25th of last month, mutilating her body, and abandoning it around the nearby Gyeongan Stream.

The police began an investigation after receiving a missing person report that A could not be contacted, and viewed Yoo, who last met A, as a suspect, leading to his urgent arrest and detention.

The police secured CCTV footage showing Yoo discarding a blanket that was at the crime scene and carrying a bag while moving, and recovered all of A's remains over two days starting from the 30th of last month.

However, Yoo is reportedly denying the charges, claiming he does not know the whereabouts of A's body.
