[Culture & Life Reporter Eunji Kim] Animals are our friends!

Many things are changing with the times. Narrowing the scope to beauty, 'vegan' items have become more diverse compared to before. Vegan beauty brands that were known through word of mouth continue to gain strength, while new vegan beauty brands are emerging. Among them, we would like to introduce three vegan beauty brands that have stayed true to their original intentions and deeply moved us. We looked at 'Clairs', 'Hustler', and 'Dear Dahlia', which are cruelty-free (no animal testing) and vegan & eco-friendly (avoiding animal-derived ingredients).

Vegan & Eco-Friendly 'Clairs'

'Simple but Enough.' This is Clairs' slogan. It clearly shows the direction Clairs aims for. The minimal and cleanly designed products contain everything consumers want. The slogans 'Mild but Powerful' and 'Basic but Ultimate' can also be understood in the same context.

Clairs, which started in Seoul in 2010, focuses on developing functional products for sensitive skin. It does not conduct animal testing and avoids using animal-derived ingredients. At the same time, it continues social contribution activities such as donating a portion of its profits to animal protection organizations. Consumers focused on clean beauty and minimal beauty have already fallen in love with Clairs.

Clairs' 'Supple Preparation Facial Toner' surpassed 1 million bottles in cumulative sales in the first half of 2019, and overseas it ranks high in sales on major global distribution channels, establishing itself as a K-beauty brand. Clairs reigns as a steady seller in major online and offline distribution channels in over 40 countries worldwide, including the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

'Hustler' Incorporating American Vegan Know-How

Hustler is a vegan beauty brand born from the accumulated know-how of American veganism over a long period. It focuses on natural ingredients, hoping that the fresh daily experiences through its products can expand into happy energy in life. Reflecting the originality of American vegan tradition, Hustler does not compromise on time or cost to ensure definite quality.

Hustler realizes 'skin vegetarianism' based on safe and pure ingredients that do not harm human health or the ecosystem. It pursues a vegan life that strictly excludes animal-derived ingredients and animal testing to uphold the value of respecting life. Additionally, to practice zero waste, it has introduced eco-friendly packaging by reducing the use of plastic, a major cause of environmental pollution.

Meanwhile, to welcome the hot summer, Hustler has released large-size versions of Little Drops' bestsellers: the soothing ampoule and the moisturizing ampoule. The newly launched large-size Little Drops Soothing Ampoule & Moisturizing Ampoule are best-selling products loved by many YouTubers and consumers.

Ethical Makeup with 'Dear Dahlia'

Inspired by the dahlia flower, known as the 'queen of the garden,' Dear Dahlia is a cruelty-free, vegan brand that opposes animal-derived ingredients and animal testing, and is free of eight harmful substances. It boldly breaks the stereotype that 'it is difficult to realize vegan beauty in color cosmetics' and is the first domestic vegan color cosmetics brand certified by PETA.

Dear Dahlia boasts high pigmentation and long-lasting power, earning the love of 'codeok' consumers who pursue a vegan lifestyle. They aim to gift ethical beauty under the belief that 'high-performance makeup must also be safe for the skin' and 'transcends time and trends.'

Marking its 3rd anniversary since launch, Dear Dahlia is holding special promotions both online and offline. For a limited period, all products can be purchased at discounted prices, and a 'Best Seller Starter Set' is prepared in a limited quantity of 50 sets per day. Furthermore, Dear Dahlia plans to contribute to improving animal welfare by donating a portion of its profits to abandoned dog protection and rescue activities.
