Yongin City Deletes 2,000 Records of COVID-19 Confirmed Cases' Movement Information Yongin City Hall

[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has deleted about 2,000 movement records of COVID-19 confirmed cases.

On the 5th, Yongin City announced that it deleted a total of about 2,000 records through the 'Internet Keeper' to ensure that personal information such as the movement paths of COVID-19 confirmed patients does not remain online after 14 days.

The city has been operating the Internet Keeper since May 28. So far, the city has deleted a total of over 4,000 pieces of information through the Internet Keeper.

Additionally, the city is promoting participation from citizens in deleting confirmed case information by producing related content in the form of webtoons and advertising through banners, the official website, and SNS channels.

According to the guidelines of the Central Disease Control Headquarters, information related to confirmed patients must be deleted after 14 days, but there are no enforceable regulations, making deletion difficult.

A city official urged, "We ask online community managers and others to actively cooperate with deletion requests to prevent posted information from becoming a stigma and causing secondary damage."
