Seoul City Prepares Small-Scale and Visiting Cultural Arts Programs Mobile performance vehicle 'Maeumbangyeokcha' appearance (Provided by Seoul City)

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] A cultural arts program to comfort Seoul citizens exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and continuous monsoon season is being introduced.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 5th that it will carry out the 'Culture Touch Touch Project' in five areas: ▲ visiting performances ▲ small-scale regular performances ▲ citizen invitation performances ▲ night openings of museums and art galleries and traveling exhibitions ▲ citizen support campaigns and psychological counseling services.

The visiting performances will offer personalized shows based on citizens' stories, and 'balcony concerts'?enjoyed while maintaining social distancing from home verandas or windows?will be held in places such as apartment playgrounds. The mobile performance vehicle 'Mind Quarantine Vehicle' will also begin operation from the end of August.

Small-scale regular performances will take place in over 20 outdoor spaces across Seoul, including Donuimun Museum Village, Seoul Botanical Garden, Garden Five, and Ttukseom Hangang Park. Free or low-cost citizen invitation performances will also be held at venues such as Seoul Station, Citizen Hall, and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.

Night openings of museums and art galleries will continue, and exhibitions featuring works by emerging artists will be held in everyday spaces desired by citizens. Additionally, various initiatives such as citizen support campaigns and psychological counseling services to overcome depression caused by COVID-19 will be implemented. Pink-themed lighting installations conveying messages of support will be displayed at Seoul City Hall and Yanghwa Bridge, alongside ongoing campaigns featuring Pinkfong and Baby Shark characters. In September, an online psychological quarantine platform will open on the Seoul COVID-19 Psychological Support Team website, introducing a chatbot that allows anonymous counseling.

Seo Jeong-hyeop, Acting Mayor of Seoul, stated, "We will deliver a message of hope for overcoming COVID-19 by allowing citizens to safely enjoy cultural arts and receive comfort, while revitalizing the cultural arts sector."
