[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Former Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Boo-kyum advised Future United Party lawmakers Bae Hyun-jin and Cho Soo-jin on the 3rd, saying, "When you are a first-term lawmaker, never recklessly take on the role of an attacker." In response, Rep. Cho said, "I supported the politician named Kim Boo-kyum throughout my time as a reporter covering political parties."

Rep. Cho wrote on her Facebook that she was sincerely pained when Kim Boo-kyum shouted for "overcoming regionalism," vowed to give up all vested interests, and said he would go to a barren land.

She added, "During the 2016 general election, when I was hosting a TV program, I focused on the challenges of two politicians, Kim Boo-kyum and Kim Young-choon, under the title 'Blue (Blue·melancholy) Brothers.'" She criticized, "Now that the ruling party is under the banner of the 'Democratic Party,' there is no sign of democracy, the rule of law, or common sense."

She continued, "Ruling party lawmakers complain that they cannot say a single word about Mr. Cho Kuk, Rep. Yoon Mi-hyang, those who were nominated and elected while mentioning 'judicial farming,' those who were nominated and elected in exchange for 'defending Cho Kuk,' and the many core defendants," adding, "Isn't this a party without 'freedom of expression,' something only possible during dictatorship times?"

She went on, "The 'senior' (former Rep. Kim) who directly fought against dictatorship would know better than anyone the harms of dictatorship and its tragic consequences." She said, "From the position of a 'non-incumbent' challenging the party leadership of the perfect 'Moon Jae-in party,' former Rep. Kim Boo-kyum may be eager for a vote from the 'Moonpa' camp. Nevertheless, all the more reason, I hope former Rep. Kim Boo-kyum will steadily walk toward people with common sense and a broad center."

Rep. Cho concluded, "Although the conditions are very difficult, I sincerely hope he maintains the spirit of 'practicality and realism' by facing problems cool-headedly and putting philosophy into practice."

Earlier, former Rep. Kim mentioned Rep. Cho and Rep. Bae in a post on his Facebook, saying, "When doing politics, you end up attacking the opposing party. At such times, it is etiquette among lawmakers to just let it pass." He pointed out, "Recklessly playing the role of an attacker or sniper only hurts yourself, and the shame falls on your constituents."
