From September, various chamber music relay concerts will continue at local venues... 40 young artist teams selected to receive performance fees and opportunities to participate in the December planned concert
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) is recruiting young artists to participate in the ‘Seocho Chamber Music Festival’ scheduled to take place from September to November.
The ‘Seocho Chamber Music Festival’ will feature young artists aged 19 to under 39, performing various chamber music concerts at cultural spaces throughout the Seocho-gu area. A total of 40 performance teams will be finally selected from the applicants.
The selected young artist performance teams will have the opportunity to perform once per team during the 3 to 4 concerts held weekly throughout the festival period. Participating young artists can receive performance fees of up to 250,000 KRW per person and up to 1,000,000 KRW per team.
Additionally, 15 teams of young artists selected through the live concert ‘Cultural Space Revitalization Project,’ which fosters networking between cultural spaces and young artists in the first half of the year, will also perform during the festival.
In December, a ‘Seocho Chamber Music Festival Youth Orchestra (tentative name)’ composed of young artists who participated in the ‘Seocho Chamber Music Festival’ and the ‘Cultural Space Revitalization Project’ will be formed, providing an opportunity to participate in a joint planned performance.
The performances of this relay concert-style festival will also be streamed on YouTube. Applications are accepted by the Seocho-gu Office’s Culture and Tourism Division until August 14.
The district expects this festival to provide young artists, who have been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, with opportunities to perform on stage, and by holding all performances at private venues within Seocho-gu, to revitalize the depressed performance venues and invigorate the cultural and arts community.
Going forward, Seocho-gu plans to promote various untact cultural projects to contribute to the revitalization of the struggling cultural and arts sector and to present high-quality performances to its residents.
In particular, various opportunities such as ‘Seoripul Youth Live’ and ‘Seoripul Cultural Class’ will be provided in collaboration with young artists.
Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Jo stated, “The 2020 Seocho Chamber Music Festival is a meaningful festival where young artists struggling due to COVID-19 can fully demonstrate their hidden talents,” and added, “We will continue to promote various cultural projects so that young artists can confidently pursue their dreams.”
