[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) signed a "Mutual Cooperation Agreement to Support the Construction of the Gansong Memorial Hall" with the Gansong Art and Culture Foundation at Dobong-gu Office at 4 p.m. on the 3rd.

Since 2018, the district has been striving to build the Gansong Memorial Hall to honor the life and legacy of Gansong Jeon Hyeong-pil (1906?1962), who purchased cultural assets during the Japanese colonial period and devoted himself to cultural patriotism. Since December 2019, the district has been conducting a "Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment Service for the Construction of the Gansong Memorial Hall," and in July, it applied to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for a preliminary feasibility evaluation of the memorial hall's construction.

Furthermore, following the will of Gansong Jeon Hyeong-pil and in efforts to protect cultural assets, the district has worked to foster mutual cooperation with the Gansong Art and Culture Foundation, culminating in this agreement.

The main contents of this agreement between Dobong-gu and the Gansong Art and Culture Foundation include ▲ sharing materials related to the construction of the Gansong Memorial Hall ▲ mutual cooperation on other matters related to the construction.

Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "Through this agreement, I hope to fully embody the life and spirit of Gansong Jeon Hyeong-pil, who protected our culture, in the Gansong Memorial Hall. We will do our best to build the memorial hall so that residents can see Gansong Jeon Hyeong-pil more closely and frequently through the Gansong Memorial Hall harmonized with the Gansong Old House."

Meanwhile, the Gansong Old House (National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 521) is a traditional hanok with a history of over 100 years, located harmoniously with the tomb of Gansong Jeon Hyeong-pil.

Dobong-gu and the Gansong Art and Culture Foundation restored and opened the Gansong Old House in September 2015, and the Gansong Memorial Hall will be located in the area of the public parking lot near the Gansong Old House (San 58-13, Banghak-dong).
