[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Amid former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's lawsuit against Kim Sanghyun, CEO of Gukdae Tteokbokki, Gwak Sangdo, a member of the Future United Party, demanded on the 2nd, "Investigation agencies should promptly begin investigations into cases filed by opposition party lawmakers as well."

On the same day, Gwak posted on his Facebook, saying, "Regarding the case where former Minister Cho sued Kim Sanghyun, CEO of Gukdae Tteokbokki, for defamation on the 1st, Cho announced via his SNS that he completed the complainant investigation within a day."

He pointed out, "Investigation agencies have not provided any updates for over a year on the case where I sued President Moon Jaein, former Minister of Justice Park Sangki, former Senior Secretary Cho Kuk, Senior Administrative Officer Lee Kwangcheol of the Civil Affairs Office, Police Chief Min Gapryong, and Prosecutor Lee Gyuwon regarding the Blue House-planned purge linked to the fabrication of facts by the Past Affairs Investigation Team and the Past Affairs Committee's investigation recommendation related to the Kim Hakui case from June to July 2019."

He continued, "At the end of September 2019, when I raised allegations of special favors toward President Moon's son Junyong and his wife, former lawmakers Lee Jonggeol and Son Hyewon spread false information unrelated to me, such as 'unknown lawyer' and 'fraud conviction.' (Investigation agencies) have not even considered investigating the case where I sued them for defamation and other charges for over 10 months."

Finally, he emphasized, "Cases filed by individuals related to the current government and ruling party are actively investigated, and cases where they are sued are delayed. Investigation agencies should promptly begin investigations into cases filed by opposition party lawmakers as well."

Earlier, former Minister Cho posted on his Facebook, saying, "On the 1st, I sued CEO Kim Sanghyun for defamation by false facts and completed the complainant investigation," adding, "Such irresponsible behavior by a CEO of a famous company must bear legal responsibility."

In response, CEO Kim posted, "Professor Cho Kuk reportedly filed a criminal lawsuit against me," and added, "I would like to take this opportunity to inform you once again. Moon Jaein, Cho Kuk, and Lim Jongseok are communists."

On September 24 last year, CEO Kim posted on his Facebook, stating, "Cho Kuk received money and assistance from the Chinese Communist Party through Co-Link," and "I hope messages like '#MoonJaeinIsACommunist' and '#CoLinkBelongsToChoKuk' spread further." In the post, Kim said, "If this is unverified and problematic, please sue me," and "If I have to go to prison, I will gladly go."
