LG Display Unveils Next-Generation OLED Online at SID 2020 in the US

At the online International Society for Information Display (SID) 2020, visitors are viewing the LG Display foldable OLED panel through a video.

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Display announced on the 3rd that it will participate in the 'Society for Information Display (SID) 2020,' held online from the 3rd to the 7th local time in the United States, showcasing next-generation OLED technology.

SID is the world's largest display conference where global display-related companies and academia gather in one place to exhibit new technologies and products and present research papers.

This year, it was scheduled to be held in San Francisco, USA, but due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), all events such as exhibitions and seminars will be conducted online instead of offline.

LG Display explained that, in order to create new business opportunities by expanding customer contact points, it will open a virtual exhibition hall in the online space prepared by SID and showcase more advanced OLED technology to visitors.

The virtual exhibition hall is largely composed of two zones: the 'Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) Form Factor Innovation Zone' and the 'OLED Convergence Zone,' providing product information through videos.

In the Form Factor Innovation Zone, next-generation displays such as ▲ 65-inch and 12.8-inch Rollable OLED ▲ 13.3-inch large Foldable OLED ▲ 65-inch Bendable OLED ▲ 55-inch transparent OLED with 40% transparency will be exhibited.

In the Convergence Zone, vehicle digital cockpits made with a 27-inch ultra-large curved plastic OLED (P-OLED) for car dashboards, a 12.3-inch CSO (Cinematic Sound OLED) instrument panel that produces sound from the screen without speakers, and other products will be displayed. Next-generation OLED displays for AR·VR and 3D can also be explored in the Convergence Zone.

Additionally, LG Display plans to prove its differentiated technological capabilities by presenting the latest research papers related to various displays, including OLED, online at SID 2020.

Kang In-byeong, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG Display, said, “We will lead the innovation of future displays based on differentiated technology that only OLED can realize.”
