[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Jang Je-won, a member of the Future United Party, criticized on the 31st the statement by Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae that “amid the increasingly severe indiscriminate and baseless attacks from the media and the United Party, now even Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji) has reached the point of attacking me,” calling it “a ridiculously poor tactic.”

On Facebook that day, Representative Jang said, “Minister Choo is cunningly linking the media and the United Party with a specific religious group that is receiving national criticism and spreading conspiracy theories,” adding, “She slyly tacks my name onto it. Then she uses the phrase ‘organized resistance to reform.’”

Representative Jang pointed out, “The dichotomy that she is reform and the opposition party is anti-reform is nothing but arrogant narcissism and delusions born of excessive self-love,” and “The fierce authority who freely uses the phrase ‘defying the Prosecutor General’ is busy playing the role of a persecuted weakling.”

He stated, “If the Minister of Justice, whose life depends on fairness and objectivity, is so deeply trapped in confirmation bias, it is questionable whether she can properly perform her duties,” and added, “Whether mail comes from Shincheonji or defamatory leaflets arrive, the Shincheonji issue should be investigated and dealt with as a Shincheonji issue.”

Representative Jang said, “I hope she stops using the poor conspiracy theory of whether it should be seen as a mere coincidence or as some kind of organized movement to try to link the media and the opposition party with a specific religious group,” and concluded, “I enjoyed reading an interesting novel.”
