[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] KOTRA is expanding export opportunities online in Amman, Jordan. KOTRA has been exploring various methods to open export channels, including producing K-beauty promotional videos using local influencers and hosting online export consultation meetings.
KOTRA announced that it held an online export consultation meeting between Jordanian buyers and domestic companies for four days starting from the 20th. The nine participating companies sent samples in advance to the local market through the Amman trade office, allowing buyers to directly experience the samples and ask questions during the online consultations.
Prior to the consultation meeting, KOTRA produced unboxing and review videos of products from small and medium-sized enterprises to promote them online. The related YouTube videos recorded over 150,000 views and received about 4,000 inquiries, showing a positive response.
A Jordanian buyer who completed the consultation said, "As Korean movies, music, and dramas gain popularity, K-beauty awareness has increased in Jordan as well," adding, "We plan to target market niches with innovative products such as lip patches and eye patches."
Lee Sujeong, head of the KOTRA Amman Trade Office, said, "Since it is difficult to hold offline events such as trade delegations and exhibitions, we are strengthening online marketing," and added, "We will promote products by leveraging the Korean Wave."
Meanwhile, Jordan's Roya TV recently decided to consecutively air the Korean dramas 'Love in the Moonlight' and 'Signal.' Our film 'Negotiation' is also being filmed locally for two months starting in July with the cooperation of the Jordanian government.
