[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Culinary expert Baek Jong-won was moved by the efforts of the owner of a handmade frozen pork cutlet restaurant in Pohang.
On the 15th, SBS variety show 'Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant' aired the second story from the Kkumteul-ro alley in Pohang.
On this day, Baek Jong-won, who visited the handmade frozen pork cutlet restaurant, asked the owner if he still wanted to continue making pork cutlets.
The owner said, "I have thought about other things, but I have focused only on pork cutlets for a year, practicing and putting in countless efforts, so I want to bring it to a close. Although I am still lacking now, I want to show customers the proper delicious taste of pork cutlets."
In response, Baek Jong-won suggested experiencing pork cutlet lunch sales, saying, "To keep the store running, daily sales need to be at least 300,000 won," and prepaid for 30 servings for the staff.
The owner began preparing 30 servings of pork cutlets for the staff, but it was not easy.
Although the pace was a bit slow, the process went on without major mistakes, but the food was served without the broth. Also, when about half were completed, there was a shortage of rice and bowls to serve. The owner completed 30 pork cutlets in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
The owner tearfully said, "It's not that the work is hard, but I want to serve customers properly, and not being able to do so makes me unhappy," and chose porridge as a new menu.
Three months later, Baek Jong-won visited the handmade frozen pork cutlet restaurant again. The owner revealed three notebooks full of self-study notes, saying he had researched porridge recipes.
The owner said, "At the word that the porridge was good, I devoted two and a half notebooks entirely to porridge," and revealed that he researched all kinds of porridge, surprising everyone. The notebooks were also filled with Baek Jong-won's recipes.
Baek Jong-won said with satisfaction, "You will graduate early from being a cooking beginner." The owner said he made a new menu called Deopjuk and prepared spinach beef Deopjuk and conch octopus Deopjuk.
After tasting the Deopjuk, Baek Jong-won exclaimed, "Deopjuk, which I heard of for the first time, looks amazing," and after tasting it, said, "Deopjuk that you eat eagerly, it's delicious. Suddenly, I feel shabby because I have nothing to offer," giving high praise.
Then Baek Jong-won said, "There is hardly anything to criticize. I would buy this myself. If I say I would buy it, that's enough. I hope it is sold in the neighborhood," and the owner shed tears of emotion.
