Results Announced on the 29th... Full-Scale Start of 914 Public Sector Projects from August 3rd
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 14th that the 'Daegu-type Hope Job Project to Overcome COVID-19,' prepared on the largest scale ever in the public sector, received applications with an average competition rate of 1.4 to 1.
Through announcements at 8 district and county reception centers, simultaneous applications were accepted from 144 locations such as eup, myeon, and dong across Daegu City from the 1st to the 10th, resulting in 23,404 applicants competing for 16,685 positions.
By district and county reception centers, Buk-gu recorded the highest competition rate of 1.66 to 1 with 3,481 applicants for 2,096 positions. Dong-gu had 3,050 applicants for 1,990 positions, and Suseong-gu followed with a competition rate of 1.53 to 1, with 3,373 applicants for 2,206 positions. There were no underfilled areas.
Daegu City formed the 'Daegu-type Hope Job TF Promotion Team,' led by Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Hong Ui-rak, to serve as the control tower for project promotion, managing overall participant reception and operation. The city plans to maximize project effectiveness by linking with district and county Hope Job TF Promotion Teams.
At eup, myeon, dong, and district and county offices, screening has begun based on submitted documents, reviewing income, assets, unemployment duration, and whether applicants belong to vulnerable employment groups such as those unemployed or closed due to COVID-19. Final selection results will be announced on the 29th when the final screening results from each district and county reception center are available.
The 16,685 finally selected participants will begin working in 914 various public sector workplaces starting from the 3rd of next month, including ▲199 lifestyle quarantine support projects with 8,501 people ▲240 public rest area improvement projects with 4,049 people ▲245 public work support projects with 1,373 people ▲9 industrial cluster environmental maintenance projects with 213 people ▲9 disaster prevention projects with 143 people ▲182 youth support projects with 1,585 people ▲30 regional specialization projects with 821 people.
Participants will receive an hourly wage of 8,590 KRW and a monthly salary ranging from approximately 670,000 to 1,800,000 KRW, working 15 to 40 hours per week depending on the project.
Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Hong Ui-rak stated, "Everyone is going through a difficult time amid the unprecedented situation of COVID-19. Through this project, the valuable sweat shed by citizens in various public sector workplaces will become the driving force for Daegu to vigorously leap toward hope again. We will do our best to promote the project."
