[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Gunsan City, Jeonbuk, provided customized health care services to manage the health of local residents amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 14th, the Western Health Living Support Center of Gunsan City Health Center announced the successful completion of the month-long "My Vascular Numbers Awareness Month" program, which involved about 240 residents from the western region.
This program was established to enhance the importance of chronic disease prevention and management and to strengthen self-management of vascular diseases, in response to concerns about residents' depression and decline in self-health management due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
The Western Health Living Support Center provided free tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and body composition, and based on the results, offered various health care services including customized chronic disease management counseling, nutrition education for dietary improvement, and exercise prescriptions for maintaining appropriate weight.
Additionally, residents with suspected chronic diseases based on test results were referred to affiliated medical institutions in the western region to ensure continuous vascular disease management.
Furthermore, 53 individuals requiring weight management such as obesity were selected and linked to the "Obesity Escape Project" health promotion program, which aims to lower obesity and enhance immunity, encouraging maintenance and management of body fat.
Baek Jonghyun, director of the city health center, stated, "In the second half of the year, we will conduct the same tests on participants of the chronic disease program and evaluate the health management effects for each individual through comparative analysis. We plan to provide incentives such as priority opportunities to participate in the program and regular check-up benefits, along with selecting exercise methods suitable for each person, to enable residents to practice health management independently."
