[Asia Economy Reporter Won Dara] The Democratic Party of Korea has appointed Professor Kim Jong-cheol of Yonsei University Law School and Chairman Jang Seong-geun of the Suwon City Human Rights Committee as recommendation members for the Chief of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency.

The Democratic Party's Recommendation Committee for the Chief of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency announced in a press release on the morning of the 13th, "We reported Professors Kim and Chairman Jang to the Supreme Council today and finalized their selection through deliberation and resolution."

Regarding the recommendation of Professor Kim, the committee explained, "He is a figure who has actively contributed to national system reform through various studies on constitutional values such as fundamental rights, personal rights, and the principle of separation of powers, as well as social activities including serving as a member of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Prosecutorial Reform Committee and an advisory member of the National Assembly's Constitutional Amendment Special Committee."

About Chairman Jang, the committee stated, "Having served as president of the Gyeonggi Central Bar Association and the National Local Bar Association, he has represented diverse voices in society. Considering the functions and purposes of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency, which must pursue fair and just investigations that uphold the constitution, law, and principles, his diverse and extensive legal experience is expected to enrich the discussions on recommending candidates for the agency's chief."

The committee added, "We will submit today's appointment results to the Speaker of the National Assembly," and urged, "We hope the United Future Party will also fulfill the responsibilities and duties assigned to the main opposition party under the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency Act."
