[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 9th that the fulfillment rate of Mayor Kim Byeong-nae's 7th term pledges was calculated at 71.5%.
This pledge evaluation was conducted through a first self-assessment by the relevant departments from the 15th to the 30th of last month, followed by a second comprehensive evaluation by the policy evaluation team, the overall department in charge.
The main inspection contents were the progress status according to the evaluation indicators for each pledge project, analysis of causes and countermeasures for underperforming projects, and future plans.
First, Mayor Kim Byeong-nae's pledges by sector include ▲local economy (8 action tasks) ▲culture and education (10) ▲welfare (9) ▲urban environment (16) ▲autonomous administration (9), totaling 52 action tasks across 5 sectors.
Among these, the projects completed include 24 items such as the operation of the Happy Welfare 7979 Center, attraction of a gymnasium exclusively for the disabled, establishment and operation of a dedicated civil complaint center, creation of a beautiful road on Juwol-ro, and expansion and revitalization of small libraries.
Ongoing pledges include 26 items such as the Gwangju-Jeonnam Win-Win No.1 Road project, efforts to attract the main hospital and expand branches of Jeonnam National University Hospital, revitalization of traditional markets, fostering a socially growing social economy, creation of the Songam Digital Video Industrial Complex, and construction of Jinwol Sports Complex.
Additionally, the startup support center and complex cultural facility in the old Veterans Hospital area are progressing somewhat slowly as they are linked with the large-scale urban regeneration project around Baegun Square, and the construction project of the Gwangju Hyanggyo Confucian Scholars' Hall is currently proposed as a Gwangju city-supported project due to budget issues.
Regarding the fulfillment status of pledges by the five sectors, the welfare sector had the highest fulfillment rate at 84%, followed by autonomous administration at 81%, urban environment at 70%, local economy at 65%, and culture and education at 59%.
The reason for the low fulfillment rate in the culture and education sector is analyzed to be due to many projects requiring long-term implementation, such as the construction of Jinwol Sports Complex and Songam Life Sports Park.
Mayor Kim Byeong-nae of Nam-gu said, “I will definitely fulfill the promises made to residents and make Nam-gu a place where all residents enjoy a prosperous life,” and added, “In the second half of the 7th term, I will pay more attention to the parts where pledge fulfillment is insufficient and do my best to be recognized as a leader who keeps promises well.”
