Public Postal Injury Insurance Supporting 1,307 People Over 9 Years Since 2012... Available for Vulnerable Groups Struggling to Obtain Insurance
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Seungro Lee) Dongseon-dong Community Welfare Council announced that it partnered with Seongbuk Post Office to support the enrollment of the public interest accident insurance “Happiness Insurance for 10,000 Won” for neighbors in need within the community.
“Happiness Insurance for 10,000 Won” is a public interest accident insurance offered by the post office for vulnerable groups who need future risk protection but face economic difficulties in purchasing insurance. It is available to basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families aged 15 to 65. In case of death or injury caused by an accident, the insurance provides consolation money to bereaved families and medical expenses.
The Dongseon-dong Welfare Council’s support for “Happiness Insurance for 10,000 Won” has been a specialized project continuously carried out annually for nine years since 2012. Including 100 new enrollees this year, a total of 1,307 people have received enrollment support. In 2019 alone, 19 people received insurance benefits totaling 21.9 million won.
Hyun Inho, Chairperson of the Dongseon-dong Welfare Council, stated, “We hope this small helping hand will ease the economic burden of residents in difficulty.”
Seungro Lee, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “I feel rewarded to be able to provide a strong safety net for our neighbors in need through the Happiness Insurance for 10,000 Won,” and added, “We will continue to strive to ensure that warm sharing can continue.”
