[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that Misa Station and Hanam Pungsan Station, the first phase section of the Hanam Line directly constructed by the province, received the "Barrier-Free (BF) Certification" from the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
The BF certification is awarded after evaluating whether construction was carried out to ensure that vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, disabled persons, and pregnant women do not experience inconvenience when using specific facilities.
Misa Station and Hanam Pungsan Station created continuous movement paths to become barrier-free transportation facilities and installed facilities such as visual alarms for the hearing impaired, voice guidance devices, and tactile map-type information boards.
Gyeonggi Province plans to make all facilities on all metropolitan railway lines it is promoting, including the Byeollae Line and Dobongsan Okjeong Line scheduled to start construction within the year, convenient for vulnerable transportation users.
The Byeollae Line received preliminary certification at the design stage, and the Dobongsan Okjeong Line is about to undergo preliminary certification evaluation.
Park Kyung-seo, head of the Railway Construction Division of the province, said, "Starting with the BF certification of the Hanam Line, we will acquire certification for all lines carried out by Gyeonggi Province and do our best to build railways that are safe and convenient for not only vulnerable transportation users but all citizens."
