Pohang City Civil Service Office Pictogram 'Eye-Catching...'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 7th that it has created and installed universal design 'pictograms' on eight passport and certificate issuance civil service counters, receiving positive responses from visitors.

The city explained that it strengthened the guidance function so that all civil petitioners can easily find the service they want at a glance through 'design visuals,' judging that foreigners and others found it difficult to understand counter signs made only of numbers and letters when using the civil service office.

'Pictogram' is a compound word of 'picto,' meaning picture, and 'telegram,' meaning telegraph, and refers to pictorial symbols designed so that anyone can easily understand the meaning of objects, facilities, or actions.

Kim Yong-jik, Director of the Autonomous Administration Division of Pohang City, said, "We will continue to actively discover citizen-centered policies with an open mind for the socially vulnerable and civil petitioners, and do our best to create a happy civil service office where anyone can conveniently use the civil service office."
