Remdesivir was originally developed as an Ebola treatment and demonstrated a reduction in recovery time by more than 30% in clinical trials involving severe COVID-19 patients.

Accordingly, investor interest is rising not only in Gilead Sciences, which has started selling the COVID-19 treatment, but also in biotech stocks.
