Driving the 'K-Unicorn Project' with the Special Guarantee for Prospective Unicorns

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Jung Yoon-mo, hereinafter referred to as Kibo) announced that it will implement the 'VC Investment Matching Special Guarantee,' a leverage program matching investment and guarantees, starting from the 3rd as an execution plan to realize the four major venture powerhouse countries.

The VC Investment Matching Special Guarantee, along with the Preliminary Unicorn Special Guarantee, is one of the core projects of the 'K-Unicorn Project' promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to realize the four major venture powerhouse countries. This special guarantee program provides up to 5 billion KRW in guarantees by Kibo or additional investment support through a Special Purpose Company (SPC) for companies recommended by venture capitalists (VCs), enabling large-scale investments even if the fund size is small.

Kibo has formed 'Kibo VC Partners,' consisting of about 60 excellent private venture capital firms, and fully supports companies invested in and recommended by the private sector. From the company's perspective, Kibo's guarantee added to the venture capital investment results in attracting investments of up to 10 billion KRW. Specifically, in the case of the 'loan type,' Kibo provides guarantees up to 5 billion KRW for unlisted small and medium-sized enterprises that have attracted investments of 2 billion KRW or more within the last six months, recommended by VC Partners. The 'investment type' supports special guarantees up to 5 billion KRW for SPCs established with 100% capital from venture funds to facilitate large-scale investments.

Baek Kyung-ho, a director at Kibo, stated, "The VC Investment Matching Special Guarantee is a public-private collaboration project where Kibo, a public institution, supports technology innovation companies with proven growth potential through private VC investments to drive growth."
