[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do is promoting a project to create the country’s first marine and forest healing space, the ‘Yaksan Marine Healing Experience Center.’

According to Wando-gun on the 2nd, a residents’ briefing session was held on the 30th of last month in the second-floor meeting room of the Yaksan-myeon Office to help residents understand the Yaksan Marine Healing Experience Center creation project.

The briefing session was held with residents from Haedong, Dangmok, and Gasari villages attending, where the project progress and development plans were explained, followed by a Q&A session to hear and respond to residents’ opinions.

The Yaksan Marine Healing Experience Center plans to invest a total project cost of 2 billion KRW to establish healing facilities such as seawater Kneipp therapy (seawater walking therapy), marine healing decks, seawater baths, and marine healing rooms at San 123-2, Haedong-ri, Yaksan-myeon by next year.

On this day, residents generally showed positive reactions toward marine healing, with the highest interest particularly in the seawater baths.

Residents requested that operational support measures be reviewed to allow more frequent use of the seawater baths and that the design be adjusted to increase the capacity of the seawater baths.

A Wando-gun official said, “This briefing session was arranged to hear the valuable opinions of residents regarding the Yaksan Marine Healing Center creation project, which will become a new landmark of Wando-gun, and we will actively consider various opinions and reflect them in the project promotion.”

He also stated, “We will do our best to promote the project so that residents can heal through the creation of the healing space and benefit through job creation and resident income-linked programs.”

Wando-gun plans to explain the progress of the ‘Yaksan Marine Healing Center Creation Project’ to Yaksan-myeon institutions, social organizations, and village chiefs in the future.
