Moon Jeong-in, Special Advisor to the President for Unification, Diplomacy, and Security, said on the 2nd that the decision-making system of the Donald Trump administration in the United States seemed like a 'Bongsunga Academy' and expressed, "I strongly felt whether we can trust the United States."

At the Korea Peninsula Peace Forum held at the National Assembly that morning, Special Advisor Moon referred to the memoirs of John Bolton, former U.S. National Security Council (NSC) advisor at the White House, stating, "Looking at the White House decisions, it is completely like Bongsunga Academy."

He said, "How can a world-class large empire conduct politics in this way?" adding, "The president makes decisions based on approval ratings, bureaucrats try to maintain stable management, and people like Bolton try to overturn things with their own authority," and described it as "a total mess like no other."

Special Advisor Moon also pointed out that the deeply rooted 'sanctions omnipotence' in the U.S. political and bureaucratic circles makes problem-solving difficult. He said, "It seems that the U.S. president appoints key positions and they do everything, but in reality, long-standing mid-level and director-level officials and lobbyists form coalitions underneath, making the issues considerably complicated."

He added, "There are quite a few sanctions zealots who treat sanctions like sacred relics, and overcoming these obstacles to resolve the Korean Peninsula issue is not an easy task."

Furthermore, Special Advisor Moon mentioned the memoirs' content that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe obstructed South Korea, North Korea, and U.S. diplomacy at every turn, stating, "The worst person is Bolton, and an even uglier, more despicable person is Prime Minister Abe."

He continued, "The most reasonable and acceptable person is President Trump," and regarding Stephen Biegun, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State who played a leading role in the North Korea-U.S. talks, he added, "Bolton evaluates Biegun as a weak negotiator, but from our perspective, he is a very good person."

Amid all this, he praised President Moon Jae-in's mediation efforts in the North Korea-U.S. dialogue, saying, "Our president did very well." He emphasized, "He broke into the seemingly impregnable White House to produce results and penetrated through the gatekeeper Bolton, showing how much of a role he played."
