[Announcement+] Unisem Signs 15 Billion KRW Equipment Supply Contract for BOE OLED Line in China

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Unisem, a semiconductor and display equipment specialist company, will supply chillers to BOE (BOE Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd), the largest display manufacturer in China, for its B12 factory.

Unisem announced on the 2nd that it has signed a chiller supply contract worth 15 billion KRW with China's BOE. The chillers supplied under this contract will be used in the OLED production process at the B12 line in Chongqing, China.

A chiller is equipment that controls temperature within the production process, maintaining a constant temperature to improve production efficiency. Unisem mainly produces scrubbers, which remove harmful gases in the process, alongside chillers.

Following the supply of chillers and scrubbers to BOE's B11 line last year, Unisem is continuing large-scale equipment supply contracts this year as well.

BOE announced at the end of last year that it would halt LCD investments and invest more in OLED and Micro LED technologies, and has been aggressively investing in OLED lines since then. Following the Chongqing B12 line, construction of the B15 line in Fuzhou is scheduled within this year, indicating a positive outlook.

An Unisem official stated, “BOE is an important business partner to whom we have consistently supplied equipment based on trust and quality, and we expect to continue our relationship with BOE’s future planned investments.”

He added, “In the second half of this year, investments from major clients such as Samsung Electronics and the resumption of investments by SK Hynix are expected to continue, and with Chinese companies also beginning investments, equipment demand is occurring without any gaps, projecting a steady performance trend.”
