WEMAKEPRICE's 'Bulk Purchase Special' Grows Threefold in Just 3 Months Since Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Wemakeprice's 'Bulk Purchase Special Price' event, launched in March, has seen significant growth in transaction volume. The strategy of targeting thrifty consumers who buy in bulk at lower prices has proven successful.

Wemakeprice announced on the 2nd that the transaction volume of the Bulk Purchase Special Price event in the fourth week of June grew threefold (201%) compared to March. During the same period, the number of customers seeking bulk purchase specials increased by 2.7 times (174%).

By category, sales of daily and kitchen products such as masks, wet wipes, and toilet paper increased fivefold (399%), while sales of baby and maternity products such as formula and diapers rose more than threefold (234%). Pet supplies saw the largest increase, with transaction volume growing 6.2 times (518%). The best-selling bulk purchase products in June were mostly daily necessities, including formula, bibim noodles, disposable masks, coffee mix, Febreze, bottled water, and kimchi.

The Bulk Purchase Special Price event offers greater discounts the more you buy. The more you add to your order quantity, the more than 10% cheaper the purchase becomes. Wemakeprice analyzed that these benefits are highly favored by thrifty consumers who want to buy large quantities of long-lasting daily necessities, processed foods, and pet supplies at lower prices.

A Wemakeprice official said, "There is a clear trend of purchasing large quantities online at lower prices, especially for consumable products that can be stored for a long time or bulky and heavy daily necessities," adding, "The recent increase in indoor activities due to reduced outings is also related to the rise in online bulk purchases of daily necessities."
