[Golf Topic] 12 KLPGA Players Secure US Women's Open Entry Tickets

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Twelve players from the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour have secured eligibility to participate in this year's US Women's Open.

The United States Golf Association (USGA), which will host the 75th US Women's Open this December in Houston, Texas, announced the qualification criteria on the 2nd (Korean time). Due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), unlike previous years, there will be no qualifying rounds, and this year the direct entry range to the main event has been expanded from the top 50 to the top 75 in the world rankings. The world rankings are based on the standings as of March 16, before major tours worldwide were suspended due to COVID-19.

Players ranked 53rd Park Min-ji (22, NH Investment & Securities), 54th Lee So-mi (21, SBI Savings Bank), 64th Cho Jeong-min (26, MY Munyoung Group), 65th Lee So-young (23, Lotte), 70th Kim Ah-rim (25, SBI Savings Bank), 72nd Kim Ji-young2 (24, SK Networks), and 73rd Park Chae-yoon (26, Samchully) have earned spots. Including the top five players in last year's KLPGA Tour prize money rankings?Choi Hye-jin (21, Lotte), Jang Ha-na (28, BC Card), Lee Da-yeon (23, Mediheal), Lim Hee-jung (20, Hanwha Q CELLS), and Cho A-yeon (20, Volvik)?the total comes to twelve players.

Additionally, as of November 11, the USGA will grant US Women's Open entry to the top 10 money leaders on the US Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the top 5 money leaders on the LPGA Symetra (second-tier) Tour who have not yet qualified. The top two players from the LPGA Tour events held after August?the NW Arkansas Championship, Cambia Portland Classic, and ShopRite Classic?as well as the top three from the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, will also compete on the US Women's Open stage.
