Chosun University Officially Launches 3rd Term Board of Directors System 'Start'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Chosun University Foundation has officially begun its 3rd term of full-time directors.

According to Chosun University on the 1st, the Ministry of Education approved the appointment of nine full-time directors of the Chosun University Foundation as of July 1, 2020.

The 3rd term full-time directors of the Chosun University Foundation are ▲ Kim Mu-young (Director of Mokpo Christian Dental Clinic) ▲ Kim Yi-su (former Constitutional Court Justice) ▲ Baek Ran (Professor at Honam University) ▲ Byun Won-seop (Head of Public Innovation Division at Korea Management Association) ▲ Shin Yoon-sook (Professor at Chonnam National University) ▲ Lee Moon-soo (CEO of Jeonnam Domin Ilbo) ▲ Lim Dong-yoon (Professor Emeritus at Chosun University) ▲ Jung Byung-joon (Professor at Ewha Womans University) ▲ Jo Eun-jung (Professor at Mokpo National University).

The term of office is three years until June 30, 2023. The first board meeting will be held on the 3rd to elect the chairman.

Meanwhile, the Chosun University Foundation transitioned to a full-time director system in 2010 after operating under a temporary director system following the resignation of the former management in 1988 through democratization of the academy.

However, due to conflicts between the 2nd term full-time directors, which included associates of the former management, and the members, a temporary director was dispatched in November 2017. With the appointment of the 3rd term full-time directors this time, the temporary director system ended after two years and seven months, achieving normalization.

An official from the Chosun University Foundation said, “With the appointment of the 3rd term full-time directors, we will be able to realize the founding spirit of a private university established by the people and lay the groundwork for transitioning to a government-operated private university, which the government is currently promoting.”
