[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] As of 5 p.m. on the 27th, the number of confirmed cases related to the cluster infection at Wangseong Church, where a novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) outbreak occurred, has been confirmed to be 22.

The number of confirmed cases, which was 19 at noon that day, increased by 3 within 5 hours.

Gwanak-gu, Seoul, announced that it has completed testing for about 1,700 church members and 1,813 of their family members and acquaintances.

Since the test results have not yet been released, the number of infected people may increase further.

In particular, among the confirmed cases are an elementary school part-time instructor, a district office temporary employee, and a Yeouido office worker, raising concerns about community transmission outside the church.

According to the district, the additional confirmed cases in the afternoon are a 26-year-old woman (Boramae-dong, Gwanak 111), a 29-year-old woman (Sillim-dong, Gwanak 112), both of whom visited the church, and a 62-year-old man (Sinsa-dong, Gwanak 113) whose specific infection route is under investigation.

The detailed movement paths of the confirmed cases have not yet been disclosed.

The cluster infection at Wangseong Church has put Gwanak-gu on high alert. When a 31-year-old woman (Gwanak 90), one of the church members, was first confirmed positive on the 24th, the district set up a mobile screening clinic in the church parking lot and conducted emergency testing for all church members.

The Wangseong Church mobile screening clinic will operate only until the 27th. From the 28th, testing can be done at the Gwanak-gu Public Health Center screening clinic.
