[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Energy Agency announced on the 26th that it signed the '2020 Large and Small-Medium Enterprise Win-Win Growth Business Agreement' at the Le Meridien Hotel in Seoul.

The companies that signed the agreement include KT, LG Innotek, LG Chem, SPC Samlip, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Chungcheong Energy Service, Paris Croissant, POSCO, Hyosung, Hyosung Heavy Industries, Hyosung Advanced Materials, Hyosung Chemical, Korea East-West Power, Korea Western Power, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and Korea Midland Power, totaling 15 companies.

Through the agreement, the agency and the companies agreed to ▲ strengthen the foundation for win-win growth cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises ▲ establish a cooperative system for jointly promoting projects related to greenhouse gas reduction and climate change response.

The companies that signed the agreement with the agency on this day plan to actively cooperate in the 'Green Credit Discovery Support Project' and the 'Energy Companion Project,' which the agency has been promoting since 2016.

Through this, they plan to exchange information and opinions to strengthen the foundation for win-win growth between large and small-medium enterprises.

The 'Green Credit Discovery Support Project' focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises reducing greenhouse gases with support from large companies. Large companies can acquire offset emission credits equivalent to their investment in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Offset emission credits refer to the conversion of certified performance into emission rights when greenhouse gas emission allocation companies reduce greenhouse gases at external emission facilities, etc.

This year, the agency is supporting consulting related to the establishment of greenhouse gas reduction facilities and external project registration at three small business sites in cooperation with three companies including Korea East-West Power.

The 'Energy Companion Project' is a project where large companies provide energy efficiency improvement consulting to small partner companies.

The agency is supporting energy efficiency improvements for 65 small partner companies together with 13 large companies including KT.

Ko Jaeyoung, Director of Demand Management at the agency, stated, "In the national crisis situation caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), cooperation between large and small companies has become even more important," and added, "We will actively participate in reducing greenhouse gases and improving energy efficiency based on win-win cooperation between large and small-medium enterprises."
