[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Convenience store CU announced on the 26th that it will exclusively sell the ‘BTS 2020 T-money Card’ starting next month on the 2nd.
CU partnered with T-money and began with the release of the ‘BTS CU Plus T-money Card’ in 2017, followed by various concept T-money cards such as the ‘BTS Transparent Card’ and the ‘BTS Transparent Illustration Card.’ These cards gained popularity mainly among customers in their teens and twenties, causing shortages each time they were released.
The BTS 2020 T-money Card released this year features concept photos from BTS’s 4th full album ‘Map of the Soul: 7,’ with each card designed with photos of all members?RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook?dressed in suits. This product will be sold in a limited quantity of 150,000 nationwide at CU stores.
Purchasing products at CU nationwide with this card will automatically accumulate 2% CU membership points, and registering the card on the T-money website allows for additional accumulation of T Mileage points.
Kim Il-du, MD of the Household Goods Team at BGF Retail, said, “The BTS T-money Card is a product that becomes a hot topic both online and offline every time it is released due to its unique design and high practicality,” adding, “CU will continue to introduce products that deliver differentiated value and fun to customers.”
Meanwhile, CU’s transportation card sales growth rate increased by 32.2% in 2017, 18.4% in 2018 compared to the previous year, and also grew by 13.7% last year.
