POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation Launches 'Meeting Becomes Art' Project to Support Popularization of Artists with Disabilities

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation is launching a new project called "When Meeting Becomes Art" to support the popularization of artists with disabilities.

The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation selected 10 teams of artists with disabilities active in various fields such as literature, fine arts, music, and popular arts, based on recommendations from the Korea Disabled Artists Association. Collaborating with the professional content production company Treasure Hunter (MCN), they produced one collaboration video and one story video, each about 5 to 7 minutes long, for each team of artists with disabilities. The produced videos will be released on POSCO TV (YouTube) and influencer YouTube channels.

On the 25th, videos featuring Han Bu-yeol, the "first live drawing artist with autism in Korea," designer Jang Hyung-cheol, and Grandma Park Mak-rye (DIA TV partner creator) will be released. On the 30th, videos featuring "one-handed pianist" Lee Hoon and singer Kang Min-kyung will be showcased. Starting with these, special videos of 10 teams (11 people) will be released two teams per month until October.

This project, themed "When Art Meets Art to Create Another Art (CollaboArtion = Collaboration + Art)," involves 10 talented artists with disabilities, including artist Han Bu-yeol (Western painter, developmental disability), pianist Lee Hoon (one-handed pianist, brain lesion disability), artist Park Hwan (Western painter, visual impairment), magician Jo Sung-jin (one-handed magician, brain lesion disability), author Heo Yong-ho (children's book author, quadriplegia), wheelchair dancers Choi Moon-jung and Chae Soo-min (physical disabilities), ballerina Go Ara (hearing impairment), pansori singer Choi Ye-na (visual impairment), and handy rapper Kim Ji-yeon (hearing impairment). To support their popularization, a total of 14 celebrities including Big Marvel, Sanago, Kkulkkul Seon-a (creators), Kang Min-kyung, and Eric Nam (singers) participate in producing collaboration videos.

In addition to the collaboration videos, story videos unique to artists with disabilities who have overcome challenges and pursue artistic value in their fields will be produced and shared through POSCO TV to deliver empathy and inspiration for changing public perceptions of disabilities.

Meanwhile, established in 2013, the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation has been carrying out various social contribution activities under the vision of "1% Sharing for a Better World," supporting future generations, people with disabilities, multicultural families, and the cultural arts sector.
