Selected 40 Companies Including SensTone with National Recommendation System and Citizen Jury
Up to 15.9 Billion KRW Support Including 300 Million KRW Market Development Fund

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 25th that a total of 40 companies were selected through the final evaluation of the Baby Unicorn 200 nurturing project.

The Baby Unicorn 200 nurturing project is the first project of the K-Unicorn initiative, and the final selected companies receive linked support of up to 15.9 billion KRW, including 300 million KRW in market pioneering funds. A total of 254 companies applied for the Baby Unicorn 200 nurturing project, and through eligibility review, first-round technical evaluation, second-round document evaluation, and final presentation evaluation, 40 companies were selected with a competition rate of 6.3 to 1. Notably, the final presentation evaluation was jointly conducted by a professional judging panel and a public judging panel, reflecting not only the potential for growth into unicorns and global market entry but also the perspective of the public.

Analysis of the final selected companies showed an average business age of 3.4 years, an average sales revenue of 3.37 billion KRW, and an average employment of 24 people. Many excellent companies were included, with 40% (16 companies) receiving an A grade or higher in the technology and business evaluation by the Korea Technology Finance Corporation. The average amount of investment attracted was 4.8 billion KRW. Sensstone, a company producing disposable authentication code generation modules, which achieved the highest score in the final evaluation, received praise from the expert panel stating, “Its technological superiority stands out, and if device-specific customization is achieved to expand into payment solutions, it is expected to be highly successful.”

Cha Jeonghoon, Director of the Startup Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We will support the Baby Unicorns selected together with the public to grow into prospective unicorns and unicorns, while continuously promoting the growth process of Baby Unicorns so that the public can cheer them on.”
