[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Tongyeong City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 24th that it held the 'Tongyeong, a City Beautiful at Night' tourism proclamation ceremony on the 23rd at the outdoor event venue in front of the Donam-dong Marine Sports Center.
This event was held to revitalize the tourism industry and local economy, which have been stagnant due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and only about 40 key guests were invited in compliance with quarantine guidelines.
'Tongyeong, a City Beautiful at Night' was planned to proactively respond to the recovering travel sentiment after the transition to a daily quarantine system, to significantly promote nighttime tourism resources, and to enhance Tongyeong's image as a destination where visitors stay longer, thereby revitalizing the tourism industry and local economy such as the lodging sector.
Mayor Kang Seok-ju, who attended the event, said, "We held the proclamation ceremony to announce Tongyeong's new tourism vision focusing on nighttime tourism and extended stays." He added, "We will promote Tongyeong's nighttime tourist attractions through night sea view tours, the Dalbodeure Marine Rest Area, cultural heritage night tours, and the completion of the Garden of Light, Dpyrang."
He continued, "We will continue to maintain the COVID-19 quarantine system and daily quarantine efforts to ensure everyday safety and make Tongyeong a place where tourists can visit with peace of mind."
