Ministry of Education LINC+ Project Annual Evaluation 'Very Excellent' ... Fostering Innovative Professionals for the 4th Industrial Revolution

Additionally, it secured incentive funding by operating an innovative curriculum leading fields related to the 4th Industrial Revolution.


On the 22nd, Busan Institute of Science and Technology announced that it received the highest rating of 'Excellent' in the Ministry of Education's '2020 Junior College LINC+ Development Project (Social Customized Department Focused) Annual and 4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading Consortium Designation Evaluation.'


The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation recently conducted the 4th annual evaluation targeting 44 nationwide junior colleges participating in the LINC+ development project and announced the results.


Busan Institute of Science and Technology received top-level evaluations nationwide for optimal job analysis through demand analysis of local communities and industries, excellent cooperative systems with local industries, and demand-centered curriculum organization.


In the newly introduced 4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading Consortium designation evaluation this year, the 'Healthcare Medical Device Course' received an 'Excellent' rating, and the 'AI Practitioner Course' received a 'Good' rating, earning up to 200 million KRW in incentive funding per course, and is set to begin full-scale course operation.


Notably, last year, the overall employment rate of participating students reached 90.1% (compared to the number of employment contracts, including non-consortium companies), achieving practical demand-customized project operation results satisfying the university, companies, and students alike.


The university was first selected for this project in 2017 and currently offers 14 social customized courses across 14 departments, including Automotive Engineering, Hotel Tourism Management, Health Care Administration, Real Estate Distribution Management, and Hotel Culinary Arts.


It has signed business operation and employment linkage agreements with 237 companies such as LG Electronics, SK Networks Walkerhill, Hanseong Motors, and Seowon Distribution, and is operating the project accordingly.


Furthermore, the university has set a vision to realize a 'Industry-Academia Cooperation Hub University' by establishing a demand-centered industry-academia integrated vocational education system linked to its mid- to long-term development plan, promoting four core strategies: Support (joint recruitment), Learning (joint design), Teaching (joint operation), and Get in Job (employment linkage).


Lee Sang-seok, Project Director (Vice President of Busan Institute of Science and Technology), stated, “With socio-economic structural changes centered on the 4th Industrial Revolution and an unprecedented rapid technological development cycle, we have entered a competitive society where the future cannot be predicted even slightly. Along with a major transformation in the university education system, it is necessary to cultivate professional manpower focused on corporate sites with creativity, imagination, proactiveness, and collaboration skills through establishing a demand-centered customized education system based on local industries.”
