[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Nodongil) announced on the 16th that Korea Gas Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (Branch Manager Kim Jinhyung) donated 6 million won as scholarships for vulnerable middle and high school students residing in Suncheon and Yeosu.
The donation ceremony was held with the attendance of Kim Jinhyung, Branch Manager of Korea Gas Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, all employees, and Kim Sanggyun, Secretary General of Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, along with other related personnel.
The donated funds will be used to select 12 underprivileged middle and high school students from the Suncheon and Yeosu areas and provide them with scholarships.
Since 2015, Korea Gas Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters has supported low-income households with about 47 million won through the Jeonnam Community Chest, including living expenses and medical expenses support projects, housing construction and improvement support projects, as well as providing goods to senior centers for residence and safety to bridge the cultural gap.
Since last year, they have been providing scholarships for the second year to students in the Jeonnam area who are struggling financially so that they do not give up their studies.
Kim Jinhyung, Branch Manager of Korea Gas Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “I thought it was important to nurture talent for the sustainable development of the local community, so I decided to donate scholarships,” and added, “We will continue various support so that students can study stably.”
