[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] A man in his 20s who produced and distributed child sexual exploitation materials together with Moon Hyung-wook (24, detained and indicted), known as 'GodGod,' the originator of the Telegram 'Nth Room,' has been arrested by the police.


The Cyber Safety Division of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency announced on the 16th that A (25) was detained on charges of violating the Child and Youth Sexual Protection Act and the Information and Communications Network Act.


A is accused of attempting to produce child sexual exploitation materials by threatening three victims under Moon Hyung-wook's orders in March of last year. He is also charged with distributing over 1,000 child sexual exploitation materials and possessing more than 9,200 from March to June of last year.


While investigating Moon Hyung-wook, the police discovered evidence that A distributed Nth Room sexual exploitation materials and threatened victims together with Moon. Based on evidence collected and analyzed through digital forensics, A confessed to the entire crime.


Moreover, the police confirmed that from March 2015 to March 2016, A approached more than ten children and adolescents via social networking services (SNS), produced child sexual exploitation materials by threatening them with exposure videos, and in April 2015, had sexual relations with a child or adolescent he met through SNS.


A police official stated, "We plan to expand the investigation into the suspect's accomplices and additional crimes," adding, "We will hold a personal information disclosure committee to decide whether to disclose the suspect's identity."
