Genesis Diesel GV80, Warranty Period Doubled to '10 Years · 200,000 km'

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Genesis GV80, which faced controversy over diesel engine vibration issues, has taken swift action by proposing to double the warranty period.

On the 11th, Genesis announced that for all GV80 diesel models delivered up to that day, the warranty period for major engine components will be extended from the existing 5 years or 100,000 km to 10 years or 200,000 km, effectively doubling it.

A Genesis official stated, "Although intermittent vibration issues do not appear in most vehicles, we decided to extend the special warranty for the GV80 diesel engine to alleviate customer concerns."

Additionally, regarding the vibration issue of the GV80 diesel engine that caused controversy, measures are currently being prepared and validity verification is underway.

Earlier, when the vibration defect issue of the GV80 diesel model became controversial, Genesis temporarily halted vehicle deliveries and announced plans to devise a solution.

Genesis explained, "Intermittent vibrations are detected in some vehicles, but they are unrelated to safety," adding, "The intermittent vibration phenomenon is due to combustion imbalance caused by abnormal carbon deposits inside the engine in some vehicles."

The Genesis GV80, launched in January, has had approximately 14,000 units delivered in the domestic market, of which about 8,000 are diesel models. Currently, there is a backlog of about 10,000 units in demand.
