Selected for Busan City Support Project for 2 Consecutive Years with Barrier-Free Cultural Content

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University announced on the 10th that, following last year, it has been selected again this year as a recipient of the Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project and will continue to operate the ‘Busan Barrier-Free Zone Expansion and Leading Culture and Arts for the Disabled’ program.


The Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project is a pilot project initiated by Busan City for the first time nationwide. It aims to strengthen the role of local universities as key institutions for solving regional issues and driving regional innovation by utilizing human and material infrastructure in the Busan area.


As a university specializing in cultural content, Dongseo University, in collaboration with the Busan Viewer Media Foundation Busan Viewer Media Center, Busan Federation of the Disabled, and Busan International Film Festival, operates barrier-free musical production and performances, barrier-free friendly cultural product production and exhibitions, barrier-free film production and screenings, barrier-free radio broadcasting for the disabled, barrier-free APP services for non-standard content, and barrier-free experience programs.


Additionally, the 2020 Disabled Media Festival, enjoyed by both disabled and non-disabled people, is scheduled to be held at the Centum City Barrier-Free Zone from October 7 to 16, 2020, during the Busan International Film Festival.


Kim Hyung-woo, head of the Regional Collaboration Center at Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group and professor of the Department of Design, who is the overall project manager, stated, “Contributing to the improvement of cultural welfare in the local community through the results of cultural content education is Dongseo University’s social responsibility to the community,” adding, “We will continue to promote education and events in the barrier-free field, a blue ocean of the film and video industry, to contribute to the enhancement of cultural welfare and future industrial competitiveness in the Busan region.”
