[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT is launching a personalized artificial intelligence (AI) diet management service for diabetes patients. By taking photos of meals, the system connects with an app to analyze calories and nutrition, helping to control blood sugar levels. This service is tailored for diabetes patients for whom diet management is crucial.
On the 9th, KT announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a “Medical Information-Based Diabetes Management Service Demonstration” in collaboration with Huray Positive and Wonju Severance Christian Hospital. The AI diet management solution introduced by KT is a system that supports recording and managing the diets of diabetes patients. Starting in the second half of this year, KT plans to provide a solution that allows diabetes patients visiting Wonju Severance Christian Hospital to easily record and manage their meals simply by taking photos through a diabetes management app.
Chronic diseases like diabetes require continuous management such as diet control, but until now, it has been cumbersome for patients or caregivers to manually record and manage information daily. KT’s AI diet management solution is expected to reduce this burden by enabling the analysis and recording of food types, nutrition, and calories through photo capture alone. KT plans to further enhance the AI diet management solution. Medical staff will also be able to accurately and easily check patients’ meal and nutrition information, making personalized management for each patient easier. Kim Chae-hee, Head of KT’s AI/Big Data Business Division (Executive Director), said, “We hope KT’s AI diet management solution will provide some help to patients suffering from diabetes,” and added, “KT will continue to contribute to changes in customers’ lives and the development and innovation of other industries based on warm AI technology for customers.”
