[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Hee-eun Park] Taebeom and Mugungi, cubs born to the critically endangered Korean tiger, have been revealed.
On the 7th, SBS's 'TV Animal Farm' aired footage of the Korean tiger Geongon’s cub siblings, Taebeom (male) and Mugungi (female), born last February, nursing naturally.
The Korean tiger is a critically endangered species, with an estimated population of about 500 worldwide.
In response, the caretaker said, "I believe that simply preserving the species of these friends is a meaningful task," and added, "Since Geongon is a first-time mother, we expected her to be clumsy, but she has raised them so well that I feel proud."
Regarding the advantages of natural nursing, the caretaker explained, "The cubs’ health and development are excellent, and since they learn everything from their mother, it helps preserve their wild instincts."
Furthermore, the caretaker created a playground exclusively for tigers. They made efforts to provide an environment where the cub siblings could adapt to the enclosure.
