Guido Venezuela 'Interim President' Denies Escape Rumors via Video

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Juan Guaido, the National Assembly Speaker who claims to be the interim president of Venezuela, released a rebuttal video regarding rumors that he took refuge in the French embassy.

According to foreign media on the 6th (local time), Speaker Guaido was seen in the video walking down the street wearing gloves and a mask, greeting and talking with citizens. He also took selfies with some of them.

Seemingly aware of the refuge rumors, Speaker Guaido said, "The ones hiding are those with a $15 million (about 18.1 billion KRW) bounty on their heads." The $15 million bounty is the amount the United States has placed on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

However, the time and location where the video was recorded have not been disclosed.

Earlier, the Venezuelan government led by President Maduro claimed that Speaker Guaido was taking refuge in the French embassy. Guaido is currently facing charges of attempted coup and attempted murder.
