Two Residents in Eunpyeong-gu Confirmed Positive for COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 6th that 2 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have occurred.

The 38th confirmed case in Eunpyeong (resident of Nokbeon-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, male, in his 60s) is the husband of the 37th confirmed case in Eunpyeong. He visited the Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center screening clinic on the 5th, was tested, and received a final positive diagnosis around 10 a.m. on the 6th. He has been transferred to Seoul Boramae Hospital, a nationally designated isolation ward, and disinfection of the confirmed case’s residence and surrounding areas has been completed.

Also, the 39th confirmed case in Eunpyeong (resident of Sinsa 1-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, male, in his 50s) was a contact of a confirmed case at the Mokdong Table Tennis Center in Yangcheon-gu. He was tested at the Yangcheon-gu Public Health Center on the 5th and received a final positive diagnosis around 11 a.m. on the 6th. He has been transferred to Seoul Boramae Hospital, a nationally designated isolation ward, and disinfection of the confirmed case’s residence and surrounding areas has been completed.

An epidemiological investigation is underway for the 2 newly confirmed cases, and additional confirmed information will be disclosed through the Eunpyeong-gu Office website.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “As confirmed cases have increased mainly in the metropolitan area recently, the spread in the local community is very concerning,” and added, “We urge residents to strictly adhere to the strengthened social distancing measures.”
