Yeosu-si Sijeon-dong Saemaeul Association Holds 'Young Radish Kimchi Sharing Event' to Spread Neighborly Love

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Saemaeul Association of Sijeon-dong, Yeosu City (Chairmen Jeong Munsu and Park Okja) held a Yeolmu Kimchi sharing event on the 3rd and 4th to help neighbors in the community struggling due to COVID-19.

On this day, 15 members personally made and delivered about 200 boxes of Yeolmu Kimchi directly to elderly residents at senior centers, low-income families, and elderly living alone, practicing acts of love and sharing.

Park Okja, head of the Sijeon-dong Saemaeul Women's Association, said, "Thanks to the members who participated despite their busy schedules, I feel good that we could bring some happiness to the neighbors in our community who are having a hard time during this difficult period." She added, "I am grateful to Kim Changhoe, the executive vice chairman of the Sijeon-dong Sports Association, who sponsored 200 kimchi containers (worth about 600,000 KRW) at his own expense. We will actively participate in creating a happy Sijeon-dong through regular volunteer activities."

Kim Jeong-o, head of Sijeon-dong, said, "I appreciate the Sijeon-dong Saemaeul Association for taking the lead in practicing love for neighbors struggling due to COVID-19." He added, "The district office will also do its best to directly reach out to and assist marginalized residents."

Meanwhile, the Sijeon-dong Saemaeul Association has been continuously carrying out various volunteer activities that serve as a model for the community, including the New Year's Sunrise Festival rice cake soup sharing event, senior center cleaning, vulnerable area sanitation activities, cultivating flower gardens on leftover land, and the Love Kimchi Sharing event.
