Jeongdong, Combining Culture, Safety, and Education, Rapidly Rising in Popularity as a Residential Area
Jeong-dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, is emerging as a ‘child-friendly neighborhood.’ This is interpreted as being due to the positive surrounding environment for nurturing children’s character and education, as well as maintaining excellent public safety. Jeong-dong has various cultural facilities such as museums and art galleries, and as an area densely populated with embassies, it boasts superior security. Moreover, it is a ‘palace zone’ area with Deoksugung, Gyeonghuigung, and Seonwonjeon (under restoration), providing an environment where children can learn about history.
According to a Seoul city announcement last April, ‘Deoksugung-gil,’ which currently operates as a car-free street on a time basis, is planned to be designated as a car-free street 365 days a year starting from the second half of this year. Such news is expected to increase the perception of ‘Jeong-dong as an even safer neighborhood for children.’
Within Jeong-dong, there are Saemunan Children’s Park and Jeong-dong Park. Being a ‘park zone’ where one can breathe the air of a park even in the city center, it is attracting the interest of couples with young children.
‘Deoksugung The Palace,’ which is located in the Jongno-gu area of Seoul and allows for living within the Jeong-dong lifestyle zone, is gaining attention. Scheduled for move-in this August, ‘Deoksugung The Palace’ consists of 58 apartment units and 170 officetel rooms. Seonwonjeon (under restoration) is located right next to the complex, and Deoksugung and Gyeonghuigung are adjacent, giving it rare value. Additionally, Deoksu Elementary School is nearby.
The model house for ‘Deoksugung The Palace’ is located on Gyeonghuigung-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Offline individual consultations are operated by prior reservation, and move-in is scheduled for August 2020.
