Naver Labs Offers Additional Free High-Precision Maps of Yeouido and Magok

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver Labs announced on the 5th that it will publicly release HD map high-precision map datasets for the Yeouido and Magok areas in Seoul free of charge.

Following the datasets for Pangyo in Gyeonggi Province and Sangam in Seoul, which were released last October, HD map datasets for a total of four regions will be provided. Naver Labs expects that this will further advance research by autonomous driving-related research institutions and startups.

At DEVIEW 2019 last year, Naver Labs announced that it would publicly release the HD map datasets for Pangyo and Sangam areas, which were built using Naver Labs' unique HD map production solution called 'Hybrid HD Mapping.' This is the first time a private company in Korea has publicly released an HD map dataset built independently.

The HD map datasets for the Yeouido and Magok areas are based on the continuously advanced Hybrid HD Mapping solution by Naver Labs, offering higher accuracy. Baek Jong-yoon, head of the Autonomous Driving Group at Naver Labs, said, "We will continue to advance the Hybrid HD Mapping technology and release more precise data to collectively raise the domestic technology level to the next stage."
