Dongjak-gu Inspects Processed Food Cooking and Sales Businesses Around Schools

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) is conducting inspections of food service and sales establishments near schools until the 16th in preparation for the reopening of schools. The inspection targets include 210 locations such as school stores in 46 elementary, middle, high, and special schools in the area, as well as stationery stores and snack bars near schools, with a total of two rounds planned. The district has organized 25 parent food safety guardians into 15 teams to carry out the first hygiene inspection.

The parent food safety guardians check according to the guidance checklist for ▲ unregistered business operations and general hygiene violations ▲ use, storage, display, and sale of expired products ▲ storage and hygiene conditions of cooked food ▲ hygiene of cooking utensils such as knives and cutting boards ▲ wearing of hygiene masks and aprons.

For establishments found lacking in hygiene management during the first inspection, responsible officials will conduct a second inspection and take administrative actions such as correction orders or warnings. Additionally, a school disinfection support team will be operated to create a safe environment for commuting to and from school.

In cooperation with Dongjak-Gwanak Office of Education, a contingency response system will be established for disinfection before and after classes and in case of confirmed cases, providing necessary budget and personnel support for disinfection, and services such as student health consultations linked with community nurses.

The disinfection teams of the 15 neighborhoods and resident autonomous disinfection groups will disinfect multi-use facilities frequently visited by schools and students, such as PC rooms and academies, at least three times a week.

Jung Woo-seok, Director of the Health and Hygiene Division, said, “Through this hygiene inspection, we will do our best to create a safe and healthy food environment for children and adolescents,” and added, “We ask residents to continue participating in COVID-19 prevention by refraining from visiting crowded and enclosed spaces and strictly following hygiene rules for their own health and safety.”
