[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CJ Olive Young announced on the 4th that the cumulative number of visitors to its official online mall during this year's first 'Olive Young Sale' period surpassed 10 million.
CJ Olive Young has been conducting the 'Olive Young Sale' since May 29, offering up to 70% discounts on popular products for the first half of the year. The sale runs until the 4th, featuring a daily surprise special deal event called 'Today's Special.'
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the untact (contactless) consumption trend, online purchase demand surged, resulting in a record high of 2.1 million unique visitors (UV) on the first day of the sale since the launch. The cumulative number of visitors during the sale period exceeded 10 million.
The background of this achievement lies in Olive Young's omni-channel strategy, which has focused on nurturing online channels and strengthening synergy between online and offline.
At the end of 2018, Olive Young introduced the industry's first same-day delivery service, 'Today Dream.' This method increases synergy between offline stores and the online mall by packaging and delivering products from stores near the customer's address rather than from a logistics center.
Since introducing a non-face-to-face delivery time option in February and continuously expanding the service, the number of 'Today Dream' orders on the first day of this sale surged more than tenfold compared to the first day of last year's sale, establishing itself as a representative O2O (Offline to Online) service amid the untact consumption trend.
Additionally, Olive Young continues efforts to enhance the competitiveness of its online mall by offering personalized product recommendations, integrating online and offline reviews, and introducing a mobile-only gifting service.
Meanwhile, despite the impact of COVID-19, offline stores located near residential areas showed growth compared to the previous year, fulfilling their role as a nearby shopping channel. Sales analysis from May 29 to June 3 revealed that sales at stores in residential commercial districts increased by about 10% compared to the same period last year.
