Chairman Cho Won-tae Donates Over 500 Watermelons Personally to Welfare Facilities in Gangseo-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Hanjin Group, donated over 500 watermelons to social welfare facilities in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, using his personal funds.

According to Hanjin Group on the 3rd, Chairman Cho personally donated more than 500 Ham-an watermelons to senior welfare facilities, facilities for the disabled, orphanages, and local children's centers, including the Hoseon Silver Center located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.

This donation was made to support marginalized groups who find it difficult to go outside due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). In particular, the donated watermelons were produced in Ham-an, Gyeongnam, an area recently struggling due to COVID-19, chosen with the intention of sharing the difficulties of farmers and helping to create demand.

Prior to this, Hanjin Co., Ltd. has been supporting marketing planning and content development to enhance the brand image of Ham-an watermelons as part of its Creating Shared Value (CSV) project since April.

Meanwhile, Chairman Cho continues his proactive efforts related to COVID-19. At the end of January, he personally boarded a chartered flight to transport Korean residents living in Wuhan, China, where COVID-19 began, to encourage employees.
