[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyung] Jeonju City has taken steps to support social economy enterprises that provide jobs to vulnerable groups and return profits to the local community by distributing booklets to promote priority purchasing.

On the 3rd, the city conducted education and production experience sessions for public procurement officers from various departments and affiliated organizations in Jeonju to raise awareness of social economy enterprise products and to spread consensus on priority purchasing.

On this day, the city provided education on the current status of Jeonju's social economy enterprises, the importance of priority purchasing of their products, and the purchasing methods.

In particular, during this training, a directory booklet introducing a total of 108 social economy enterprises in areas such as ▲home care ▲education ▲agricultural and food products ▲culture and arts ▲manufacturing ▲environmental facility management was provided to actively support the activation of public procurement.

The city also held a session to understand and experience the production methods of social economy enterprise products through a sponge cake making program by Choroksaecham at the Jeonju Deokjin Regional Self-Support Center.

The amount of priority purchases of social economy enterprise products by public institutions in the city increased more than threefold from 4 billion won in 2015 to 12.6 billion won last year.

A representative of the city’s Social Solidarity Support Group said, “As the number of social economy enterprises in Jeonju has increased to about 500 this year, we will support market promotion through active publicity and purchasing education,” adding, “We will do our best to promote the sustainable growth of social economy enterprises.”
