[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) delivered roll cakes to 28 households of war veterans and injured veterans among 120 national merit recipients residing in Neung-dong on June 3rd, in celebration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June.

This event was organized to express respect and gratitude to the national merit recipients who dedicated themselves to the country and its people, and to continue the spirit of honoring patriots and veterans.

The roll cakes delivered that day were sponsored by the Neung-dong Community Security Council (Chairman Kim Kyung-hee), and local community leaders personally visited the homes of national merit recipients to deliver the roll cakes and convey their appreciation.

In addition, to mark the Month of Patriots and Veterans, the district plans to distribute consolation money of 40,000 KRW per person to a total of 3,094 national merit recipients in the area and promote various neighborhood-level events for national merit recipients.

The Junggok 2-dong Community Center plans to deliver samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and kimchi, made directly by the Saemaul Women's Association, to 20 national merit recipients on the 18th, and on the 25th, side dishes and milk will be provided to 10 low-income war veterans.

In Jayang 2-dong, the ‘Seonhwa Maeum Volunteer Group,’ a volunteer organization composed of students from Seonhwa Arts High School, will deliver eco-bags they personally designed containing daily necessities such as mixed grains, seaweed, and red ginseng candy, along with cloth masks produced by the Jayang 2-dong Community Security Council, to 12 national merit recipients from June 3rd to 8th.

Furthermore, the district will display banners with the phrase “June is the Month of Patriots and Veterans. Together we overcame history, continuing it today” at 19 locations including the Gwangjin-gu Veterans Hall in Gwangjang-dong, and busy intersections such as Konkuk University Station Intersection and Gwangnaru Station Intersection, to promote the Month of Patriots and Veterans throughout June.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Remembering and not forgetting the sacrifices and dedication of national merit recipients for the country and its people is the strength that will lead the future.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that national merit recipients and their families are respected in society.”
